A 3/4 length quilted coat in a cotton handloom stripe ikat weave. The coat features button closures on the sides vents and two large patch front pockets.
Ikat is a resist dyeing technique involving binding yarns and dyeing them to create a pattern before weaving on a handloom. The process may be repeated multiple times and in different colours in both warp & weft to create the desired pattern. The “blurry” characteristics of an ikat weave are the result of the extreme difficulty for the weaver to line up the dyed yarns in a perfect formation, especially in complicated patterns or multiple colours.
