Our Story

HANDMADE CONTEMPORARY MENSWEAR

The antithesis of mass-produced fast-fashion, KARDO was launched in 2013 with the desire to slow things down and attend to the small details of menswear. Inspired by the rich heritage of traditional Indian craft textiles we have, for the past decade, worked and nurtured relationships with artisans and textile communities around India to create unique clothing that dresses the modern man with subtle twists on classic silhouettes.

HAND-CRAFTED WITH MINUTE DETAILING

KARDO honours traditional weaving, dying and printing techniques in India for their collections, using fabrics such as Natural Dyed Handloom, Block Printing, IKAT, Natural Indigo Denim, Shibori and Chikankari embroidery. We actively support and collaborate with handloom weaving communities throughout India in the hope that these traditional techniques don’t die out and our impact on the environment is as low as possible.

We take this one step further by our specialized ‘ONExONE’ production of our clothing where each item is hand-cut, sewn by a single tailor from beginning to end and carefully hand-finished.

IT’S NOT WHERE IT IS MADE THAT MATTERS, BUT WHO MADE IT AND UNDER WHAT CONDITIONS
Designed in and produced out of our own workshop in New Delhi, India, we celebrate our workers by paying fair wages for their craftsmanship, and providing them with a safe & healthy working environment. The provenance of our clothing is recognised by attaching a tag to each garment highlighting the hands involved in the making of each piece.
THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED. BEAUTIFULLY AND RESPONSIBLY CRAFTED
